Zenga
or suspended time....

Who could have imagined Zenga's career?
An actress, but also a director and mask designer, she created three panels for a show that were necessary for the sets of the play. The feedback was so positive that she wanted to go further and explore this path.
She finds in lace associated with wild silk a means of expression that allows her to put into poetry the reflection of her soul. Zenga hunts, searches, and recovers all lace, whatever it may be: guipure, beaded, machine-made or handmade lace. She finds in each of them a way to sublimate it.
It is their pattern that will inspire the artist and guide her creative path. Always associated with wild silk, a dialogue is born between lace and silk, through the play of transparency of the material.
Zenga meticulously cuts out each of the shapes she wishes to use with the greatest respect for the design so as not to betray the creator of the lace. She places, moves, and permutes each element so that each one finds its place and resonates and the story of her painting is drawn.
Then comes into play the work of the hand. Suspended time… because each element of lace is sewn by hand, point by point on the silk. Could this slow and meticulous work, almost meticulous, be a time of meditation, a necessary and vital time, a time of breathing that would allow our creator to let her soul fly away to better transmit to us her joy of living, her love of nature, her Garden of Eden?
Both magical and marvelous, each painting, each hanging reflects a secret world. Wherever our gaze falls, each work reflects life. As in the tapestries of Dom Robert (Benedictine monk at the En Calcat abbey, in the Tarn), we can find this same attraction to what is silence and interiority, while remaining cheerful and vibrant.
At the end of 2024, it was with her friend Claude Agier Mollinari, a ceramist, that they exhibited "De Grés et de Soie" in Toulouse. A true dialogue between Claude's ceramics and Zenga's hangings, we travel according to our imagination and our sensitivity, in our own Garden of Eden, a space of peace and reverie.
With the kind collaboration of Zenga
